Oakland Vegetation Management Plan Schedule Update

The Oakland Fire Department is continuing to develop a Vegetation Management Plan (Plan) for city-owned parcels in the Oakland hills to reduce the threat of wildfire.

The Fire Department received valuable community input at public meetings held in March and June, and through the more than 300 survey responses received. Community feedback has been key to the development of a comprehensive, science-based Plan. In response, the Fire Department has decided to conduct additional analysis based on the community and stakeholder input received. Additional modeling is being conducted to study the potential fire behavior at specific sites.  The additional analysis is expected to delay the release of the Draft Plan for public review and comment to December 2017, at which point additional public meetings will be scheduled.

We look forward to your continued participation in this important project.
